This research was conducted in Optogan company - one of the first companies in Russia that started development of LED technologies in Optogan on an industrial scale.

Being a vertically integrated company, Optogan focuses its R&D activities not only in the nanotechnology area. We make an effort to optimise all our products. At each step of development we aim to engineer them to an optimum, ensuring both function and cost are kept within the realms of reality with the view of the end customer.

Consider our retrofit bulbs, for example. Following the concept of product optimisation, we are working not only on the light engines, permanently making our Chip-On-Boards more efficient and reliable, we also optimise the size of the drivers and integrate the driver into light engine itself. We work on the design of the bulb, trying to combine high efficiency of thermal management, optimised light output, aesthetical shape to satisfy the requirements of our customers, and, a vitally important factor, acceptable price for final product.

Additionally, we spend R&D resources to work on alternative materials for housings and develop new constructional methods with thermally conductive plastics which allow us to create delicate constructions with an enhanced freedom in design as opposed to when using mineral based compounds.

For our domes and diffuser coverings we use special polymers that not only provide perfect light distribution but also have excellent mechanical and chemical long-term stability. Isolating polymers are used to separate the socket from the housing to ensure the crucial electrical safety of our bulbs.

Such polymers allow us to create seemingly impossible three dimensional forms facilitating design of the complete construction in such a way that when different parts are connected to each other their inherent complexity then becomes a tool to effect inexpensive mechanical assembly. Our goal is to pre-empt the assembly procedure and aid its function whilst reducing the need for both time and expensive electromechanical operations. Thanks to such easy assemblies our products become more attractive for our customers.  

The creation of a technically perfect design that will fulfill the aesthetical and economical expectations of our customers is the main principle behind any new development.
